Biography:

Abin Sur was a renowned member of the Green Lantern Corps, serving the universe as a protector of Sector 2814.

He is best known for crash landing his spacecraft on Earth, mortally wounded. Sensing his impending death, he used his power ring to locate a worthy successor. This led him to Hal Jordan, an Air Force test pilot, who inherited the ring and became the Green Lantern of Sector 2814.

While Abin Sur's first appearance was in Showcase #22 (October 1959), his role is significantly amplified in the lore surrounding the origin of Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. His legacy continues through the many Green Lanterns who have followed in his footsteps.
